Hey, I totally get why you’re feeling worried...

Writer: stephaniekollmannstephaniekollmann

It’s easy to feel overwhelmed by worries about the future, relationships, finances, and personal success. As a therapeutic coach, I often hear clients express fears like: “I’m worried about everything going on in the world, about not finding my soulmate, not making enough money, not being successful with my passion projects, and I’m afraid of all the uncertainty ahead.”

If these thoughts sound familiar, let me assure you—you’re not alone. These concerns are deeply human, reflecting how much we care about the things that matter most.

These fears are valid, but they don’t have to hold you back.

Let’s explore these common fears together and discover how you can navigate them with greater clarity, resilience, and hope.

Feeling Overwhelmed by the State of the World

It’s hard to ignore the chaos around us—whether it’s global crises, political tensions, or environmental challenges. The world can feel like a scary place, and it’s natural to feel anxious about things beyond our control. But here’s a comforting truth: you don’t have to fix it all. Throughout history, people have faced uncertainty and come through stronger—and you can too.

What you can do: Shift your focus to what’s within your reach. Small actions—like practicing kindness, supporting a cause you believe in, or simply taking care of yourself—can bring a sense of purpose and calm. You don’t need to change the world overnight; you just need to start where you stand.

Worrying About Not Finding the One

The fear of not finding “the one” can weigh heavily, especially when society often paints love as a fairy tale. But real connection isn’t about perfection—it’s about growth. A soulmate is someone who complements your journey, not someone who completes an impossible checklist. If you’re open and authentic, you’re already creating the space for meaningful relationships.

What you can do: Be patient with the process. Focus on building connections—romantic or otherwise—and keep growing as an individual. The right person often shows up when you’re busy being yourself. In the meantime, nurture the most important relationship you’ll ever have: the one with you.

Fearing Financial Instability or Lack of Success

Money worries and the fear of failing at something you care about—like a passion project—can feel overwhelming. These concerns tap into our need for security and self-worth, and setbacks can sting. But success isn’t a straight path; it’s a winding road of effort, learning, and persistence. You may not control every outcome, but you do control your commitment.

What you can do: Break your goals into bite-sized steps and celebrate the small wins. When challenges arise, see them as lessons, not dead ends. Keep showing up—because consistent effort builds not just success, but character.

Afraid of Uncertainty

Uncertainty might be the toughest fear to face because it’s so universal. No one has a crystal ball, and the unknown can feel paralyzing. Yet, here’s the flip side: uncertainty also holds possibility. It’s the space where growth, surprises, and new beginnings live. You don’t need all the answers—you just need the courage to take the next step.

What you can do: Anchor yourself in the present. Try grounding practices like deep breathing, mindfulness, or jotting down your thoughts to ease the overwhelm. Build resilience by focusing on what you can control—your actions and mindset. With each step, uncertainty becomes less of a threat and more of an adventure.

You’re Not Alone

These fears? They’re part of being human. Everyone wrestles with them in some form. They’re valid because they reflect how much you care—about the world, about love, about your future. But they don’t have to define what’s ahead. Keep moving forward, and let yourself feel the worries without letting them stop you.

You don’t have to face these worries alone. It’s okay to feel uncertain, and it’s okay to ask for support—whether from loved ones or a professional. Take it one day at a time, and trust that you have the resilience to handle whatever comes your way.
